A verse (and soon, accompanying art) every Wednesday to help you center yourselves on God's Word!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. -- 2 Corinthians 5.17
When you become a Christian, when you trust only in Jesus' life, death and resurrection to make you right with God and, God makes you into a new person. You still have the same body, still have the same memories and mind, but through a supernatural miracle He makes us into a new Creation. Christianity isn't a life philosophy or a code of ethics, it's the Living God reaching into your life, taking out your stoney heart that's dead to Him, and making you a new heart that freely loves Him and wants to do everything He says.
Even though that change is instant and permanent, sometimes it can take a while for the effects of your new Self to shine through into everyday life. But let me tell you this, once you become a Christian, you are changed. You don't see things the same anymore.
Jesus is more than just a religious teacher - He's the Son of God who forgives and loves and who is coming back to judge the world someday. The Bible isn't just a musty book of rules - it's the written account of God's love for His People, celebrating His faithful and instructing us how to prepare ourselves. You even see other people the same as you learn to love the Church and start seeing the plight and danger that the Lost don't even see in themselves.
This new sight doesn't really change what we see, but it changes how we see. In fact, those in Christ can now see things as they really are.
