Yes! Bird Mom! She might not be that sexy young 20-something she used to be but she sure as heck ain't OLD! (Hell she is only 38!) But her eldest daughter just started College last summer. Her little eaglet was growing up so quickly! But all that did was remind her that she wasn't YOUNG anymore either. Not like it worked against her!
She still turned heads when she wanted. There was more than one young intern at her business had gone home from a late night, with a mouth full of feathers and a couple of questionable claw marks. And now that her little girl was in school away from home she had a whole new hunting ground!
It wasn't TOO far from home. A couple hours drive. But still far enough that a daily commute was out of the question. Weekends though. Weekends were good! A quick trip down the road to see how her daughters classes were going. A chat with a couple teachers (she had even worked with one in the past so those conversations rarely dealt with school). She DID care about her daughter's education. A walk to her daughter's dorm to make sure it was in order as well (no messy rooms where SHE was paying for it). Then an evening at one of the local hangouts to see what was on the menu.
**Hmm.. too fat.. too thin.. too geeky.. too jock.. too many hangers on already.. Ooh! That one had potential! Now lets see if I can just..**
"MOTHER!! What the hell are you doing?!" Even in anger her daughter was very lovely young harpy eagle. The soft dusty grey flowing down over her shoulders and arms and fading to pure white on her belly under the sport top, with the only real dark coloring being her black primary wing feathers and the barring on her tail. Even with her feathered crest at full mast her dark gold eyes were very striking.
"Don't ruffle your feathers at me Dear. You know I like to check in on you." She took another sip of her drink and watched her daughter visibly try to control her plumage.
"Check IN on me?! I only knew you were here cause I got a message from Mr. Simon that the C+ I got on my last paper is now a B-! When did you even get in town?! It's after 6!" The younger eagle waved a hand out the window at the darkening sky.
"I figured you would be busy today and was going to call you tomorrow. *sip* Simon.. Simon.. .. Ah! Chuck! I don't know where that came from. Your grades never once came up in conversation. We just had lunch and a couple drinks while we reminisced about old times. I used to work with him you know." She kept her eye on the target she had chosen earlier. He hadn't seemed to notice her daughter's commotion yet. But a couple others had. She caught the eye of one of the young jock fellows. Her daughter liked that type didn't she?
Her daughter still seething and crest once again at full attention she let out a dramatic sigh "Fine! Just let me pay for my drink and I'll head back to my hotel and your poor Mother won't bother you the rest of the weekend." Daughter still fuming she lifted herself out of her seat and sauntered past the jock "My daughter really needs to lighten up.. Perhaps someone could help her." She gave him a wink and continued on to the bar next to where her own target sat.
Handing off a deliberately large bill so she would have to wait for change it wasn't any trouble to catch her prey's attention with her low cut top. A smile, short conversation to make sure he was what she was looking for, and her arm was wrapped around his when she finally got her change.
A flick of her tail feathers and prey in hand she headed out to her car and an evening teaching how to properly baste your bird.

WHEW!! okay that was longer than I expected.. Naughty bird mom.. (still thinking up a name for her)
I was just goofing off with some sketching last week. I'm not sure what to call it.. Give and Take? rough out a sketch, add and erase over and over, refining more and more as you go. No extra sketch layers. Just all on one till I felt it was done enough to color. I've done this a couple times before and it's really relaxing for me.
Mama bird isn't all bad. she knows what she wants and goes for it. She really isn't THAT bad of a helicopter parent either. She really didn't talk the teacher into a better grade. And she drops by the dorm to make sure everything there is okay. She has high expectations for her children and if they are just wasting time and money on parties and booze then Mama will be taking some matters into her own hands.
Hopefully I'll get daughter drawn up some time soon. and come up with names for them.
ANYWAY..

I love the story, what a dirty birdy momma. Quite the cougar! I really enjoyed seeing her evolve from a rough idea to a species to all the details across her, and learning a lot about the plumage of the harpy eagle along the way. Also, I know you heard it a lot, but I super adore this figure for her; thick yet strong! Love it!
