The intent of this picture was to capture some of the simplicity of Arnold Newman’s early works. Taking pictures of basic, and often urban or building subjects. In this case a telephone poll was used, due to a strong appeal in looking at it visually. It was also angled and placed at a thirds cross-section of the image to make it more appealing. De-saturating the image also appeals to Newman’s style of simple black and white imagery.

The cloudy day leaves out complication of individual clouds in the image letting things remain ‘simple’ (It has been raining quite a bit too, so it has been a tad difficult to get shots).
