If you are in one of the forgotten corners of the world, in one of those warzones they don't even bother reporting on the news, you might meet her. She'll sit you down and ask you to tell your story. She listens intently and only occasionally interjects with a polite question. With each word you tell, you feel lighter and at the end of the story, it's like a burden has been lifted from you. She'll smile and say thank you and then bid you farewell.

You'll probably never see her again.

They say that she's descended from, or possible is, the mythical queen Scheherazade who famously told stories for 1001 nights to the king. Some people claim to have seen her at refugee camps, reading children's books for orphans. Many think she's supernatural, I think she's probably an ordinary person...

...it's just that the ordinary sometimes feels very extraordinary.
