Heh, do you ever use a blending stick with your sketches? I always found it easier to use my greasy little fingers, but, some people make good use of it.
I really like the armor and helmet in this, but I think it feels a little indistinct in a few areas. Such as were the armor ends and feather begins, or areas that are darker because they are behind her arm.
Maybe try using marker or super dark pencil to go over area you want to stand out, or even try using a whiteout kind of material to add shines. Iunno, I like your rough feel to things, so its hard to think of stuff I think you'd like to try. But, experimenting is fun!

I tried the sticks before. They don't last too long because of my tendency to vary pressure to the point that I crush sticks. They work well while they last, though.
I agree. A darker (4B or 6B) pencil or a dark colour marker would flush out the confusing spots making the armour pop out more, so yeah, i seriously need to experiment. :]
