I wanted to go for an august theme this time (mooncake festival, etc), and this I had so much hope for also disappointed me the most.
What you see here is the 19th iteration, yes, there were 18 versions before with worse color schemes and printed on bad paper
horrid scanner aside, this is an example of a great idea plagued by problems and scraggled foreplanning.
I've close to given up on trying to color this traditionally, it has eaten too many hours and given me too many ulcers. I'll probably digitally rework it for protfolio use later after all the pain has stopped.
Part of me wants to try salvage whatever I can from this, the other just wants to toss it in the shredder with the others. And I'm in no condition to think now, migraine and all.

I THINK she's GEORGIOUS! and her little bunny helpers are SO CUTE! please dont sell yourself short with this one hon.. its REALLY a great piece..
she's intently mixing up something of a celestial potion or maybe even just a marinade for dinner.. but its STILL a really really fine piece. ( I really love the little bunny helpers getting her this or that, half climbing into drawers or coming out of pots and such with just the right amount of this or that.. they're quite charming..)
As much as beauty is in the eyes of beholder, uglyness in the eyes of the artist - I always say an artist is his/her own worst critic. I do the same on my pics !!! You certainly got something else in mind, but for as what you present us, we who don't read your mind, it is absolutely wonderful.
19 versions, 19 different color schemes, 7 different types of paper, 9 collective days of effort, 5 different brands and types of colored pencil.
Only 50% success.
more about exhaustion and using up all my hope and good vibes trying to make this work, only to be defeated more than a dozen times.

There is alot going on this your piece, i do like the detain you put in to it . I also have draw pieces that i am frustrated with when i am done. Do you have the sketch were you felt more confidante about the piece to upload?
If you were to try it again what would you do differently?

I think you're just frustrated because you went through so many iterations. Probably some of them were fine too! But this looks great, as far as I'm concerned. Something doesn't have to be "finished to the level this could appear on a magic card" for it to be a good piece.
You are the best to know when the image will reflect your vision. We viewers may still be impressed with what we can see here now.
If this were a fairy tale or animal fable, I would have read of 19 acts of devotion. A great lady of this nature is not likely to ask more than 29 such acts, and she may well be satisfied with 19, as there are near 19 eclipse years in a Saros cycle.

To be honest, I can see a couple of technical errors, as you mention.
However... the rest of it overwhelms them for me. She's a beautiful creature, physically and as a metaphoric symbol, I love the framing of the moon, and of course, the little gold bunnies getting into troubles as bunnies are SO wont to do are SO cute that I just want like.. ten of them. In my lap., RIGHT NOW> :P
Sometimes, the idea and concepts of a piece can shine through every mistake you see yourself making, and often you are the only person who can see them after all is said and done.

While I do like the piece, I can see what you mean. The colors tend to clash a bit, and there's too much empty white space. It just doesn't 'flow', artistically speaking.
I don't know about the Mooncake Festival so I'll hold off on any suggestions as to what directions this could go. But there is potential. I would hold on to it if I were you. Stick it in a folder and shelve it for a few years and come back to it, perhaps accidentally. I've finished more than a few good pieces that way.
