Very nice story, personally driven by the main character, yet detached and distant with his relationship to the world. I felt that the beginning was perhaps a bit stiff in the sentences, but as the story progressed, certainly toward the end of the first stanza and into the second the descitpion flowed more easily and all gelled quite nicely. Your description of the office scene is my favourite in this, very real and playing the duality of emotion over action that many have within such awkward work scenarios.

I'm sure this will progress nicely if you choose to continue it, I think my only advice would be to look back over the beginning once you have been writing for a while and more freely, you'll notice the small changes that will help the story progress and make the whole thing run in tandem.

Your main character is very well made and so is the world, Just devlopment in writing in genreal will be built up with practice and time.

To be honest, I did it so long ago, and I've sort of lost whatever zeal I had in doing it before, plus the rest of the plot I planned out was pretty lame and unoriginal, so most likely not :/
