So at about 8:30 AM this morning I got into my first ever car accident. I lost control due to ice, all the airbags went off but here is the result of my vehicle. I am fine and so are the other people involved, just bruises and sharp pains in places due to being in the driver seat and wearing the seat belt. 2nd accident ever in my life, sorry to scare anybody but yeah, needless to say I am not doing anything important for the next few days. Still really shook up about it as I lost complete control and couldn't do anything about the situation. I hope everyone else is having a better day than me.

Probably just the fuel shutoff, killed the fuel pump incase a line got damaged. But hardly relevant at this point, I hate to say but that poor thing looks beyond totaled. Looks like the whole sub frame in the front got shoved back. But, again, the car did it's job and took the hit for you hehe.
I was going the recommended speed and it still happened. I've only had my license for less than a year, and I had a car accident when I was 2 years old and never again since, so I was probably a little more shook up than others would in that situation. I always endeavor to be safe.
Subaru was a good choise cause of 4x4. Hope you stick with them.
I had my "accident" with ice some years ago. Driving the road with low speed cause of temps below zero - and there were some spots in the street repaired the summer before - road was fine, But that mends got ice all over. No chance to see that coming.
First I fond my self on the wrong site of the road.
A moment later, after the next small icefield I was offroad with my Toyota.
Funfact: Had some police car with big distance behind me - and they also ended up in the field.
Nobody got injuried, also no damage to my car... that said - I needed to wash it after

oh, that's awful. there's not much to do about black ice once it's been encountered on the road, except hang on and hope for the best.
many years ago, I was riding in a car whose driver braked right on top of black ice at the crest of a hill. the car went spinning down the hill, veered off-road at the bottom, and hit a telephone pole.
we all got out safely enough, but it could easily have been otherwise. we were all super lucky that the car took the exact path that it did, and that there wasn't any oncoming traffic.
I'm very glad you and the others involved are okay! I hope getting the car replaced won't be too much of a pain.
*gives all the tatsuko hugs a lass can muster* <3

Had one of my own over a year ago. It was due to excess rain, I hydroplaned into a 180 turn, down a hill, hit a ditch, knocked out cold on impact, and after that, my car kept going and hit a tree. Left me concussed, totaled the car, missed an event I had tickets for because of it. But yes, losing control and wrecking is terrifying. Both of us are lucky to be alive, as wrecks like those can be MUCH worse.
