Well, someone seems to have ruffled Mag's fluff during Combatives Practice... Guess it's going to be a matter of fighting it out now... (seems like a rather large mistake on the end of the offendor XP )

Yep, been there as well.
Got spun around during the "clench drill" from one a right hook from one of the punchers, dude connected real good with that one!
And the first time I took Combatives Level 2, was in a bout against someone who was just a massive dude (like 6'3, 250 lb, muscle bound dude), got tossed, and dislocated my shoulder in the landing. Managed to get my level 2 cert later on, but I was out for a bit from that one!
But yeah, and well familiar with what can go on there!

Thank you for your answer, Captain Mag! This sounds painful. You know what the funny part is? Some of this stuff doesn’t look all that tough when you see it at public exhibitions and on YouTube videos, yet this stuff hurts terribly in real live. Elbow attacks are especially painful. I once received one directly to my forehead and went k. o. for around one minute or so. Maybe you have heard from my trainer: his name is Kelly McCann alias Jim Grover.
No problem!
And it was at the time, but certainly not the worst of things I've had happen.
But yeah, those who are really good at it make it easy. And ouch, yeah, elbow blows can be brutal.
I'm afraid I haven't, as most of the trainers I had in Combatives were people that I knew by "Name/Rank", i.e. "Staff Sergeant Dude".

Thank you for your response! Combatives are brutal but they are also highly effective and useful. I did use what I have learned to protect myself and these methods did indeed save me on several occasions. I even once defended myself against a drugged dude with a knife! I did get cut but I was able to save my life and to disarm the guy (knife attacks are horrible and I wouldn’t wish them to my very worst enemy). Thank God! What I like about military combatives is the fact how simple they are and how easy it is to use them even in high stress situations. But these methods are definitely nothing for the faint of heart. I have seen several people having panic attacks during the night training in deep water. Some of this stuff is just extreme.
