A painting inspired by a trip friends and I made to Arches National Park in Utah, early in the month, specifically the trail to Delicate Arch, made just before midnight. With the full moon beaming overhead, we were able to make the hike with no flashlights. As we started the hike, we noticed something eerie about the snow on the ground - it was sparkling. Not just the regular sparkle that snow sometimes has, but a brilliant, faceted-diamond-like glimmer. Upon a closer look, we saw the snow actually had a crystalline structure. Large, 2 to 3-inch crystals had formed in the snow. It was like stars sparkling all along the ground.
