“Hey Emmett, remind me again what happened at the end of the last job?” Ryume asked as the two adventurers finished turning in a captured criminal.

“After you took that big hit from the enemy mage I was able to get the better of him and capture the bounty, why do you ask?”

“Well it’s just that I remember something from before that, something you said.”

Emmett paused. He knew exactly where this was heading. “Uh…”

“It was something like…You’ve made a lot of mistakes in your life as a mage, but harming the woman I love, is the last one you’ll ever make!” Ryume said trying to imitate Emmett, even striking a cool pose.

“I uh, might have said that.” The dog mage said with a hint of embarrassment “It was in the heat of the moment and…!”

Emmett’s rambling was interrupted as Ryume picked him up in her arms. She held him close, keeping their faces inches away from each other.

“I love you too.” She said before giving the smaller man in her arms a quick kiss. “I think my hero deserves a big reward.”

Emmett averted his gaze but a shy smile appeared on his face. Ryume giggled before running off with her boyfriend in her arms.
