Well he was a monster, but not necessarily the same monster you're talking about....
It was a parody of Phantasy Star Online, where the girl is one of the characters you can make, and Totoro is possibly the most terrifying enemy in the game. (He's one of the first things you fight, can kill you in 1-2 hits unless you're severely over-leveled, and is among the few enemies with a projectile attack.) And he's holding a little frilly umbrella.

Probably only funny if you've played PSO, though. ^^;
