Niata nods as she listens to the introductions. As she hears Reed explain, she sucks air through her teeth. "Sounds like over-exposure to absolution mana. That'll do quite a few bad things, including cutting off healing from magic. Fortunately, I have a few herbal poultices... but they're limited supply. So do try not to die."
She stays quiet for the introduction of Evodia, and then chuckles at Cinibar's remarks. "You hear some strange tales. I am a priestess in the service of Mirajai, the Goddess of the Eclipse. I am here on my venture to blot out evil where it tries to shine." (As nobody in the party is particularly apt in religion, and not from the region where Mirajai is worshipped, this information is face value.) "I've been wandering the lands of Yura-Dan doing smaller deeds for the past 12 years. It was only by chance that a contact of mine in Crossroads mentioned the terrible winter that I came here."
"It was during my travels that I came across Ren. He was confused, and lost. I could sense his heart has pure intentions and a great amount of courage... but something tragic must have happened to him to make him this way. He is a very strong man, and probably once a greater warrior... but now I take care of him, and he does the heavy lifting for me."
"We've been researching this Nasherok for the last month or so in the library at Crossroads. Aparently he used to be a fairly well-known wizard, but after a trip to the Frozen Tundra, he disappeared for a while. He's been gone at least 3 years before he showed up here to terrorize Port Williams. No real answer as to why, but all of my research into details on Fortress de Williams at least revealed how he's done it."
It seemed almost no time at all before the two hours had passed on their travels, moving along a winding pathway heading East towards the coastal line. On a clear day, the old forboding castle would be visible from this road, but the thick clouds and constant snow drifts make visibiliy very limited. Niata seems completely at peace in the cold, but Evodia is able to detect, with time, that Niata is sustaining a lower level Fire spell for warmpth.
The group arrives at the base of the winding rocky path that leads up to the fortress when Ren stops the card. Before him is a gathering of rocks in the path - four grey boulders with snow lightly covering their top.
Niata stands up and looks at the rocks a moment, then turns to the group. "Ready your weapons. These are not rocks!"
In response to her excited shouting, insectoid legs spring from the sides of the rocks, and large scything talons reach out from the front as hard faces white bright eyes expose themselves to the elements. The screech as they ready their charge.
