I openly admit that I'm not an avid sports enthusiast (like my brother), but when my RL niece (Corynne Pereira of Wantagh, New York) took up various sports in college, she'd proved to be a whiz at women's soccer, women's lacrosse, and (lately) women's Australian rules footy, and she'd renewed my interest in these obscure events. (I even saw Corynne and her teammates win in a lacrosse semi-final game held in south Florida, a few years ago.)
In fact, as you are looking at this drawing right now, my niece is 'down under', along with the rest of the USA Freedom team - the first non-Australian women's footy team in that country - for a series of four exhibition games in a nine-day period. (Her team will be playing in the Aussie state of Victoria, in the cities of Sydney, Caims, Melbourne, and Bendigo.) So, if there are any Aussie members of "FA" who are avid footy fanatics, check out one of the upcoming games my niece and her friends are participating in...
As for the drawing itself, it was a quickie sketch on a brown envelope (with a ball-point pen), as I'm sending a little gift in said envelope to one of my Australian friends (who I've kept in contact with for almost 20 years now). He's also going to see if he'll watch one of the four exhibition games (since he lives in Victoria).

Thanks for reminding ME, Gene... Why that Lisberger guy never made a sequel to "Animalympics", I'll never know. Sure, we don't have Gilda ('Barbra Warbler') Radner anymore, but there's still Billy ('Rugs Turkel') Crystal and Harry ('Keen Hacksaw') Shearer to provide voices. And with the number of new RL Olympic events (e.g. 'synchronized diving'), the potential for new animal gags is there, too. I'll even settle for a graphic novel version of a sequel to the 1980 animated movie.
