And now it’s time for that classic old chestnut, “When I was a Kid.” Here’s your host, Denis Leary.
When I was a kid, I remember seeing the cutscene in Kingdom Hearts right at the tail end of the game. You know the one, it’s the one where Sora and Kairi are in Traverse Town, Sora gets the Navigation Gummi that lets him go to The End of the World, and Kairi demands to go with him only to be told that it’s too dangerous, so instead she gives him the wayfinder that becomes the keychain for the Oathkeeper, making him promise to give it back as a roundabout way of promising to come back alive. Now, Sora’s not wrong. Kingdom Hearts II hasn’t happened yet, Kairi doesn’t have a Keyblade of her own, and the first game makes such a big deal out of Riku getting a Keyblade of his own that there was no reason to think Kairi ever could get a Keyblade of her own. But the Atlantica world alone is why six year old me always wanted to Rick & Morty my way to the universe where she somehow is allowed to join your party
