That's right, Mr. Carioca is back and gets some mad props once again! I took the background picture myself when I went to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for Carnaval 2008. I took the picture in the neighborhood of Botafogo, where my hostel was. Man, some huge roaches on the streets at night lemme tell ya! O____O I actually took this picture in mind thinking that later I might be able to use it in a piece, well, I had the image in my head after I came home ha. Can't remember now. I had this idea in my head for a while, so I said, I need to run with it! I dunno if the mix of reality and animation is any good but I gave it a try!
I swear Disney needs to put aside this teenybopper High School Musical and Hanna Montana bullshit and get back to doing animation and stop catering to the hordes of tweens out there today.

Man, nice that a non braziliam is able to remember about "zé" Carioca these days.
I've been to Rio some years ago ( I got home at Leblon neighborhood) and I should say that the giant roaches can be seen daytime hours too, they are almost becoming a touristic attraction themselves XD but it can't be helped since Rio is a big dirt city (in many ways).
BTW I agree with you, teenies this days sucks galore, and their likenesses to shows and cartoons are just disgusting (with some RARE exceptions) for my tastes.
Concerning the reality X cartoon, well.... disney used to make a lot of cartoons mixing Live actors and cartoons, and it makes me wonder about my childhood days too.
