In my AU, when Fluttershy fell from Cloudsdale, there was no flock of butterflies to catch her. She crashed into the forest that surrounds the cabin she now calls home but broke her wings in the process. The superficial damage may have healed but to this day the very memory of that crash keeps her close to the ground. It took a very long time for Discord to convince her to fly with him, and she still won't use her own wings at this kind of height.

Besides, she's safe. He won't drop her. Maybe spin or turn upside down a couple times but that's all...
