Our heroes have spent the past few months in the city, working at a successful inn. Amara used her ice magic to keep the inn's icebox good and cold, while Daniel entertained guests with music every night. They made a pretty good living. Helen, the owner, took good care of them.

Unfortunately, Daniel was recently hexed. Now, anyone who sees him immediately tries to kill him. So they've been on the run for a few days and have been unable to be around other people. The experience has had at least one silver lining; Daniel has gotten the hang of restoration magic, and he learned how to turn into a griffin.

He couldn't have had better timing; the horse that was pulling their (stolen) wagon got away from them. So he's been using his griffin form to pull it.

As it turns out, the hex doesn't affect him in griffin form. So they're safe around others as long as he stays that way.

The last few days have been extremely difficult for both of them. Who knows what'll happen tomorrow?

For now, they're getting some well-earned rest.
