Not much to add, really. Just cats doing drugs. :P
In my fantasy setting there are many kinds of drugs, some more powerful than others, and almost every sentient species throughout history found some ways to have some fun with particular plants, shrooms or animals.
As far as the Herimash (one of my anthro feline species) are concerned, particular psychoactive plants are dried and powdered, and then inserted into a hollow pipe. After that someone blows into one end of the pipe, shooting the powder right into the receiver's nostrils, leading to a feeling of euphoria and possible hallucinations. This is mainly used for ritualistic purposes, and sometimes just for "fun". That said, don't do drugs kids! They are bad for your health!
This started as a sketch, but later I decided to have some fun experimenting digitally on it. I plan to make fully digital works too in the future (together with my usual traditional ones) so I need to practice a bit! ^^ With only a mouse I can't do much, but I liked the effect I obtained here, so I decided to post it. Hope you like it! ^^

"Go'n Marion, just try it!"
"Don't be such a square, man! It's only a bit of catnip!"
"Guys, I don't never mess with that stuff. It screws you up, and nothing anyone can say will eeeeever change my mind."
"All the cool cats do it!"
*sometime later*
"So, someone can't handle his catnip!"
"Eh? What happened?"
"Well, in summary, you bezzed out and got stuck up a tree."
"Jesus Christ! How did I get down?"
"Yeah. You didn't."

"cocaine is a hell of a drug "
HA! You';re awesome. I watched South American tribals do this, looked painful as hell, but that high kept them doing it over and over. I watched them wince in agony, then just get totally spaced out and kinda drool, while they enjoyed the euphoria.
One tribe, there shaman would EAT the very poisonous, Fly Agaric mushrooms, and urinate into a wooden bowl, and his close devotees would DRINK it and experience the hallucinations (Supposedly) more safely, as the toxicity remained in the shaman's ever worsening body... They do it as a religious ritual... I'll stick to me peppermint tea.

Well I mean some times they chewed these leaves, and would shoot that into there buddies nose, I mean that HAS to contain some sharp bits of "Not so chewed up" leaf parts! xD
The Norse folk, like Norwegians and Swedes, would often eat mushrooms that caused hallucinations. Priests, priestesses, and the fabled, wild berserkers, would do this often, and the berserks seemed to do it the most, in addition to dark, blood rituals, where they would cut there skin, and wrap it with cloth, soaked in wolf and bear blood.
Berserks were said to fly into horrible rages during battle, where it's said that there skin turned blood red, and they lost all common sense as they screamed and drooled like animals, cutting down man with ease. There steeped in fables, myths and legends, but they were viewed as mystical super soldiers, not to be trifled with.

Ouch! XD The thought makes me cringe!
Right! 'shrooms were used quite commonly throughout Europe, I think shamans in the north still do it occasionally.
Berserkers are extremely fascinating figures by the way, It would really be interesting to know what is truth and what is legend! ^^

I know, and I was just a kid when I saw this, and I was like "........ But WHY though!?"

But yea, that always fascinated me, I was like 13 or 14 when I started reading about the legendary berserkers and there fabled rituals, that were viewed as some kind of mystical dark magic to there people. The amount of respect and fear a berserk had, it's like everywhere they went, they were revered and views with fear, respect and curiosity for there strange and mystical ways. Like a wizard or something, except instead of casting spells with a staff, they hurled axes into your face. But it seems like many Norse people viewed them as magic users too, only adding to there mysterious and mystical reputation.
I read that Norse women that acted as medics for the injured, used a special soup made with garlic, onions and other ingredients, and it had a super strong smell, but men with severe injuries would drink this, and the women would smell the wound to see if it punctured his stomach. If they could smell the strong smelling soup... They would not waste there precious medicines on him, because he was doomed to die, as they had no knowledge of how to treat such injuries.
