So, here's an ungodly ambitious idea that I've had for ages and now finally managed to draw in some vaguely recognisable form. It would hugely benefit from full shading and proper lighting and a more detailed background and etc., but that's just too ambitious for me currently, so there's just this for now. I'm proud of what I have managed to get done, at least.

These characters are ones I've had for ages but been doing nothing with. The big guy is Monty, and the little guy is Ziggurat (or 'Ziggy').

The purple markings on Ziggurat are magical tattoos of the element of air, which basically act like natural fur dye to cause his fur to grow purple in the tattoo patterns; his claws, pawpads, and eyes are also purple for the same reason. They grant him increased speed and agility as well as allowing him to safely fall from a greater height without getting hurt. His goggles are usually worn up at his forehead, but he wears them down over his eyes when flying. He's fascinated with ancient ruins, archaeology, and exploration in general.

As for Monty... Red dragons tend to be reclusive, moody, and easily angered (think stereotypical medieval dragon), but not always, and Monty is an especially relaxed and friendly red dragon. He possesses an almost Zen-like calm, lazy and contemplative and difficult to bother. He does have the signature fire breath, though, so you probably still shouldn't go trying to make him angry. And, of course, he adores all shiny things. Despite his rotund appearance, he's actually fairly graceful in the air (though a bit slow on the ground).

Ziggurat met Monty on one of his early adventures and told him about his dream of visiting every ancient ruin in the world. Monty decided that sounded like fun and offered to join him, offering his flight services to explore the world with him. They've since become inseparable best friends.
