"You are already dead."
Oh right. I almost forgot about this guy(and by almost forgot I mean I saved the best for last to generate tension so I can use Guilty Gear Overdrives). This guy...everyone hates him.
Why? Well, anyone with half a brain can play him like an imbecile and still help the team win more than any above-average Sniper ever could. People claim this little gimp is "overpowered" since he can actually charge in blindly and mow down the enemy team, is too fast and has too much health.
But what really gets peoples' goats is the fire. No matter how brisk a skimming from the Flamethrower is, unless you're also a Pyro, you'll light up like a Christmas tree and in the next 10 seconds you'll take 50-60 damage. Even if you kill the Pyro, there's a fairly good chance he killed you before you actually finished him off. This results in your corpse slumping over that medkit you so desperately needed.
Hence this pic. Of course, if it's ME playing, he'd make it to the medkit and then one-shot me as I tried to finish the job.
My opinion on the Pyro being overpowered? Hardly. As an ambush class with no special way to get around, like the Scout's speed/double-jump or the Spy's watch, the Pyro's frightening speed(read: AVERAGE, but carrying one of the bigger weapons) and "high" health are just to help him stay alive and get into position for an optimal strike from the flanks. And perhaps to help him stay away from healing items without need for rest and avoid the risk of a premature extinguishing.
Man or woman? The statement "if he even is a man" always struck me as man meaning "human", and not literally meaning male. I've always assumed he was some sort of alien or mutant, which would support his hunched posture and freakish ability.

Pyro is love <3
Granted one of the easier to play classes, only because Pyros do the most damage in close combat. Though really in TF2 I've only noticed that the Spy and Demoman are the hardest to play, only due to sheer timing being the factor in them living or dying.
AS FAR AS THE GENDER GOES, I assume the Pyro is male, there is no way that body can be female.

That's...the funny thing. The torch actually has less point-blank dps than the shotgun a lot of classes use. I think it's more the fact you can hit pretty much the entire enemy team at once if they bunch up, which incites panic and chaos. The sad thing is that even if you do legitamately ambush somebody you'll get accused of W+M1 regardless.
It also has to do with the consistency of the damage. If your behind someone and they are standing still for a few seconds, you can deal quite a bit of damage because the accuracy is quite high- so I guess the DPS is helped by that. Not to mention if you get away it continues to do damage.
Though I am not very good at the game system of damage. x.x;

Human? still not sure... just go tthe game
But it may explain why he does the Tuskan Raider battle roar or can produce fire from his bare...er, gloved hands!
But if I understand it correctly, the thing that makes this guy easy to play, is that his job, and his ability to do it is the implest.
See enemy -> hose fire
Don't see enemy -> hose fire (spy check)
See friendly -> hose fire (spy check)
Heheh, the funny thing is I loved playing as the "pyro" in Conker L&R. Same basic premise and effect, but he came with a medgun too.

I think the pyro is a lot more balanced now that the airblast can put people out. It's a lot less likely these days that you'll just die from one stupid little lick of flame, as long as you have a half-decent pyro on your team that you can run back to. I make a booming business as a fire extinguisher whenever I play pyro.
Also: Backburner FTL.
Also: Backburner FTL.
The BB is a good weapon for weening you into the mentality you SHOULD have as a Pyro. Or at least, it's supposed to be...Most people I see using it are the type of people that make absolutely sure they're in line of sigh of their target, and then make a beeline for them as they start it up 100 yards away. These sorts of morons only seem to exist on my own team, ESPECIALLY when I'm on fire.
That's fine and dandy for all .01% of players that use the Backburner PROPERLY, but pretty much any Pyro I've EVER seen with it out is dedicated to the W+M1 mentality, and probably only use it because it's "a special item" or "it has a snake head".
You can win even more with the Axetinguisher, in all honesty. You keep the infinitely more useful Compression Blast, and you can save far more ammo, so long as you have the half a mind to switch to it after lighting somebody up. Bonus if you use them both in conjunction with the Flare Gun. The Pinnacle of Pyro skill is reflecting a rocket to rocket jump, sniping some poor sap while you fly into the air, and them stamp him out with the axe. It doesn't get much better than that.

It's kinda like the FPS version of "Hey, what's that on your shirt?". People say that it takes no skill and some even admit it's amazingly easy to put down some dumb, bib-wearin' dope who pulls the trigger for his torch halfway across the map. The fact it confounds so many pubbers, though, says a lot about people who complain.
Pretty much every class in TF2 has something really easy they can do that newbies can pick up easily, but it doesn't mean that it's the only thing you can do with that class. W+M1 doesn't work well if you bumrush a heavy, a demoman, a Pyro who sidesteps you, a sniper from a distance... but if you sneak up on them it's a different story. I haven't used it much since they made the airblast highly useful, but the Backburner is for Pyros who want to play like spies (and interestingly enough the Dead Ringer is for Spies who want to play like Pyros).
Also the Pyro is a man but considering his stance is probably a hunchback.

The way I see it is that a Pyro is more of a kamikaze class than anything cause let's face it, "A good Pyro can ambush and hold back a few people and maybe take out a sentry gun if ubered; though most Pyro's just run in with flames a spewing and dying fast". Though I admit people have to stop whining about the Pyro I mean when I play a few good rounds, the Pyro is usually taken out pretty quickly with little to no casualty's most of the times. Besides it's a good class for beginner's too so there's always a tendency to use a cheap (Well not really cheap) trick like W+M1.
Though yeah, nice reference, I would love to have the North star Attack sound replace the Flame Thrower pressure sound. It would be quite cool.
