Actually the title makes me want to ask if you've seen the concept art for the video game Dead Space? If not, you might want to take a look--I think you'd find it inspiring. ^^

I vaguely remember seeing some, but it was all squidgy monsters made up of bits of corpses, which made me go "ew, I don't wanna look at any more of this".
