We all know about young love, but lets talk about old love.
Where young love is wild and exuberant (and maybe a little performative), old love is about truly understanding your partner and their needs. The fear of "if I don't spend every waking minute with my partner, the flame of our relationship will dwindle" gets replaced by a quiet and mutual respect for your partner's independence. Stressing about looking and acting your best for your partner shifts into being completely relaxed around them — awkward initiations of sex are instead conveyed by a frilly pair of pink panties.
Happy Valentine's Day to these two, going for almost 17 years strong. ❤️

Well said. I think you've captured the essence of what a lasting love means. Flaring up red hot is great, but it becomes far too easy to burn out. Lasting love is like a campfire made to linger through the night: careful attention to detail, occasional maneuvering of the coals, and banking the heat to create more warmth. Most of all, it's about putting for the effort to keep it going. ;)
This comic raises a good point. I think the issue I have with every relationship I've almost been in or have been in (all but one, which I now sorta regret ending) is that many people are WAY too affectionate and ALL of the time (although sometimes not affectionate at all, which is just as bad), and forced affection sorta exudes an air of lacking confidence to me and makes everything feel plastic. Like you mentioned, it makes me feel like they think they're going to lose me if they let me have any alone time or independence at all. Nothing about clinginess has the foundation to create a healthy relationship down the road. Being comfortable and relaxed around each other is key, not every moment has to be hot and exciting.
Glad to see a long-lasting and happy relationship in the mix! It's cute seeing something like this, and it's actually very rare!
