the namphyr are an alien species of mine
they are sort of a mix of insects and fish (this case a bit of whale shark), sometimes with a little shrimp mixed in (not really in this case, though)

This is the srifr, a phentoypical subset of the namphyr who live out in open waters and travel long distances.

All namphyr are sequential hermaphrodites and change sexual function depending on the season and pressure and temperature of the water. In the srifr, when they have a female sexual function, they are darker and have more spots (left). When they have a male sexual function, they are paler with less spots (right).
