Still practicing my digital modeling and 3D printing skills, so I’ve been making my own models and printing them out as I have time.
This particular model took me about a month to sculpt on the computer, and was a 12.5 hour print. I have my own printer now, so I was able to start the job in the morning when I woke up and then monitor it throughout the day. My little Monoprice printer is very reliable and did a great job.
Dragon was sculpted in Sculptris, then printed on a Prusa i3 clone at .1mm resolution in PLA plastic. Finished print is almost 6 inches wide from wing-tip to wing-tip. Next step is to cut up the model in Blender so that I can make it bigger and print the body and wings separately. Also planning on using what I learned to make a more detailed model.
I took the finished print and have it living on my car’s dashboard. He’s my driving buddy and I love him haha.
Also, if you know where the title comes from you are awesome.
