As the Lunar New Year event kicks begins, while we see four heroes gain representation of the Celestial Beasts, Ailuros gains two skins that draw upon the nature of the lucky, beckoning cat: the maneki neko. While originally from Japan, it has been taken in by Chinese culture under the name jinmao, thus the red & gold variant.

Normal maneki nekos are white and are for general luck, however, red maneki nekos were thought to bring good health, relatioships, and to ward off evil spirts.

When equipped with either skin, Ailuros’s normal blade is replaced with that of a Dao sword, a Chinese saber, that was used as far back as the Shang Dynasty, but were used by the Han Dynasty’s cavalry.
