Anyone who follows me irl knows this is my job, that I am a full time commercial and professional taxidermist. I love my job and work to improve the quality and realism with every mount I do!
Well, I'm fairly satisfied with these results.. 😊 Logan the wolverine got first place in professional and first place for habitat. Score of 93. Henry the deer I entered got a second place B+ in professional with a score of 88. Close, but I'm honestly still glad I entered him in professional as well and got a much better and in depth critique.. same with Logan. Also got a gorgeous award for judges pick for mammal lifesize at the closing banquet! YAY LOGAN! im super happy about that in particular because I literally kept annoying my boss and repeating "Logans gonna win the Presidents Challenge this year" over and over for the past week, more so as a joke than seriously believing it.. lol so I'm happy with this turnout- especially for my first show! Already have future pieces I want to start planning and working on for next year! Woo I've got show feverrrr🏆
After working and studying wolverines for so long while I did this piece, it inspired me to make a wolverine character! Stay tuned for that <3

All depends on what you choose to support or deem as ethical.. I do try to collect roadkill when possible or purchase animals that died naturally on small local farms that I know personally and support their ethical farming methods or if theyre a rescue. I also buy from local hunters I know personally and that they kill with a clean swift shot. Im vegan and do try to avoid certain things that I may not know WHO trapped or hunted the animal. But of course this doesnt apply to client supplied pieces I have no say in. Im extremely against barbaric hunting methods such as boar hunting with dogs and canned/tame high fence hunts. Anything with a prolonged death or leaving the animal in extended fear and discomfort. I have qualms with elephant, large primate, and whaling. These animals in particular are hyper intelligent and sentient beings and should be completely off limits in my opinion.
But anything euthanized humanely say at a vet clinic domestic or wild or if the animal is injured beyond saving Id say is pretty ethical! (As long as posessing the animal and its parts afterwards is legal!)

OH shit wait if you live in the USA AVOID ALL BIRDS. Roadkill or not DO NOT TOUCH ANY BIRDS OR EVEN FEATHERS bird law here is not governed by reason lmao basically all birds are federally protected by the migratory bird act so aside from like a sparrow and another pidgeon thing which is legal but honestly best to just play it safe and stay FAR FAR AWAY from birds.. at least here in America
If youre wondering, I'm vegan because industrial farming methods are revolting and insanely inhumane and for environmental reasons as well, I do support local hunting though! I find that hunted lean game is far more ethical (and healthier!) than farmed but personally am disgusted by it now so I just omit everything in solidarity LOL
Ohhh okay cool! Hahaha I didnt realize! Yay! More vegan taxidermy and bone enthusiasts we're going to take over the industry! Bahaha. I dont understand why some people have such a hard time understanding you can be both! We just care so much about cruelty and humane ethical methods!
