An "RM" (Silver Fern) class diesel railcar on charter service at Ohakune station, New Zealand, taken from the northbound "Overlander" service from Wellington to Auckland.
Originally introduced in the 1970s for long-haul North Island passenger services, the "Silver Fern" sets have recently been running commuter services between Auckland and Pukekohe until their lease to the Auckland rail operator ran out the other month. There is talk of these railcars now being used for services between Palmerston North and Wellington, and possibly reinstating passengers services to Napier.
