The yellow Labrador opened her eyes. "What was that for, Covina?"
The Malinois gave her husband a coy look. "Well, I was wondering - you know, just wondering - we've had a nice candlelit dinner - "
"Scrumptious dinner," Brenda said, glancing down at the remains of the seafood paella.
"And it occurred to me that I haven't made dessert."
"Oh?" Brenda raised one eyebrow. "And what sort of sweet should I have?"
"Well . . . "
The two started to giggle. "I'll clear the table," the Labrador said, "and after that we'll go play Hide the Bone, okay?"
Covina grinned. "Great."
About fifteen minutes later:
"Well! THAT'S new."
"Happy Valentine's Day, Brenda."
"Happy Valentine's Day, Covina. Now, where's the oil?"
