A little surprise poem for a very close friend this V-Day ...
It's practically tradition, I write one every year.
But this time, I took some of the more telling verses from previous V-day poems, and, well, mixed 'em into something new!
(And they're all in my submissions if you scroll enough! Go on, find out which lines were from which things I dare you!)
Remix
Rewind, yes, this was Fire.
My verse a stutter,
Our song began
As a flitter-flutter
Moth, stoking your embers.
A cued-up confession of
Wolfish attraction
Struggled to stay in sync
With those bootlegged heartbeats
And even the minor tones
Of stone roses,
Crying wolves on a winter's eve,
Could kiss life into flowers
With the promise of sunrise.
For one fan at least,
It's good to hear this song
On repeat, for
All sets come to an end.
But never, ever forget
You can always remix.
