My second submission for the
Thursday_Prompt and likely my last for awhile.
The theme for this one was 'masked foxes.'
I decided to have a bit of fun with this one, interweaving it with a fable that I've become rather familiar with and seeing how many references I can get away with sneaking in - to the aforementioned fable, to music and to British comedy.
I can't say for sure if this one is any good, admittedly. But it was a blast to write.

The fox who got outfoxed by none other than....a veteran trickster fox, heheh. Very nice read to dive into Hania, felt it was engaging and very much kept me on edge as I thought for a few moments the young thief was toast. For some reason flashes of an alternate version of Robin Hood crossed my mind which made it all the more entertaining.
In the end, Gough didn't wind up making off with the treasure he originally targeted. But he did get advice from the old vulpine that was, in my opinion, a hell of a lot more valuable.
Oh and some of those guards are going to get ripped come morning time. x.x

It was certainly quite a fun writing experience, I've wanted to do something based on the Reynard fable for a while at that time, so it was nice to show a reformed version of the character and how he views someone following in the steps of his past actions.
I swear I couldn't help myself, I had so many of their songs on rotation when I wrote it (especially A Farewell to Kings and Vapor Trails.) I have thought of writing a sequel at some point potentially, and one reason I haven't yet is debating whether or not to continue with the Rush references.
Thanks for the compliment, digital man.
