Wanted to have a go at this, haven;t written in a while. Who knows? Maybe this will get me back into writing again?

His free paw drummed a steady tattoo on the padded armrest. Of all the ways he wanted to return home, this wasn't one of them. How should he do this?... Shuffle out? Looking pitiful? Or stumble comically from the bus ramp laughing? To show he still had his humour?

Turning his face away from those waiting outside he hooked a claw beneath the irritating cast. His retirement from the force had come earlier than expected.....

But, as his eyes caught the message scrawled across his cast, he smiled.

“Thank you for saving Daddy, Mister!!!”

It had been worth it.
