I had the idea for this while listening to a recording of "Beauštanti Aušrelė", "The Dawn is Breaking", a folk song arranged by the Lithuanian composer Mikalojus Čiurlionis. It follows the rhyming structure and rhythm, except for the last line, which doesn't rhyme in the original.
I had Boneflower in mind as the addressee while writing this. As times have been especially tough on me this past year, especially this summer, I've wanted her company more than ever. Yet despite the hours spent speaking to her, hoping for a response from her lips, I receive only silence. I feel so very hopeless: how can I prove to her how much I love her? I've loved her for over six years now, and I cannot see that changing anytime soon: so how long do I have to sit here and wait for her to acknowledge my presence, or my existence for that matter!
How long, my sweet stoatess? How long?

Thanks! I considered adding more, but I had so much trouble finding the words for this single verse that I thought better of it. Besides, I agree: it says what it needs to say in 5 lines.
Funny thing is, my writing can be quite verbose (although my more recent stuff is starting to shift away from such verbosity)!
Again, thank you for your kind words!
