That's hard to say, there were so many many versions (like 24 main versions and many variations of these 24). It all depends on the purpose, like for the hight altitudes and photo mission or for the fight. Some had more speed and power, but less stability and were harder to handle.
If I had to choose, I'd say Spitfire Mk IX. It had a great mix of power and manoeuvrability.

Thought so. I thought they used mgs, then upped to a uk 20mm before switching the hispanos. But I guess not. But yes, in general, the intent of cannos is to be better than guns. :P Too many rounds to cut off a wing with mg. Cannon can swat with 2-3, Is why I say we mount more 120s on planes for dogfighting. Cause big gun is good. XD
Big guns do rule tho. Artillery is literally called the king of battle. Take that infantry. :P Paladin sucks tho. Always broken.
But yeah, I figured it would cause spitfires are lightweight, and hispano's not so much. Wouldn't surprise me if the guns/ammo accounted for 50% of the total weight.
