Hey guys, it may be a little in the mid segment of the month, but I've been busy with some stuff at home. Still rolling on the schedule accordingly. Let's get to this one. We'll be going for the Maduro version of Lot 23 this time.
Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro:
Wrapper: Broadleaf Maduro Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua, Esteli Lot 23
Filler: Nicaragua, Esteli Lot 23
Pre-Light/Construction:
The stick itself is what you would think would appear as an old school and traditional look. Broad, Oily, and a bit toothy. I would say it was practically barking at me and wanted to bite. The Lot 23 band itself added a bit of a balance in the color appearance. The veins and seems were practically invisible merely from sight. Slightly smooth, but still slightly rough from the touch. The draw from the slice was just right as far as flow goes. Let's light it up!
The Burn Part 1:
A vast amount of Pepper and Earthy notes began the flavor train. Like walking outside as the sun nears the end of it's setting. Mainly I was I was outside, but it was too breezy and chilly to do so, so I stayed inside where it was nice and warm. A somewhat rich dark chocolate note began to appear as the retro hale became a little less harsh from the pepper. Mainly it was a point of a mellow taste for the start. Loving it so far.
The Burn Part 2:
The Dark Chocolate notes started to broaden out it a bit to cover more ground while the pepper started to fade back a bit. The earth notes stayed in the same level however. The draw became a little looser at this point. A bit of bready notes started to show up to compliment the dark chocolate. Perhaps the broad expansion of the chocolate added the character to the playing field. The body at this point was medium mainly, but nearing full.
The Burn Final:
The dark chocolate has begun to dwindle down a bit, mainly b/c a bit of cream notes started to sweeten up the taste. Tasted like I'm having a little midnight desert snack. The earth note have pretty much gone to the back of the line. The Pepper notes have dwindled down near the back with the earthy notes. The bready notes along with the cream dwindled a bit back as well. So far the winner of this race before the last puffs was drawn was a tie between the cream and dark chocolate giving off a nice and sweet finish.
Verdict:
For me this is mainly an after dinner stick you should have with either a brandy or after dinner coffee for the end of the day. A finisher for the night honestly. Grab yourself a couple. :D
Next Week: Perdomo Champagne Robusto
See you all then!
