Danathius Aers comes from humble enough beginnings. He was born in a small, backwater village that meant well, but harbored a hatred and mistrust of all things magical. In spite of that, the little human had a relatively normal childhood... His mother, a skilled mage, trained him in secret, while his father provided for the family by owning the local wood-cutting business. Danathius was occasionally bullied at school and by the other kids in the village for liking the concept of magic, but his mother was always there to tend to his wounds and to bolster his morale when he was down. Sadly for the mage, that lifestyle was not meant to last. Disaster struck his hometown of Khar -- a large dragon, a creature thought to have been extinct for centuries, rampaged through the town. No one survived, save for the little mage... It was almost as though the dragon had let him go.
The event, oddly enough, kickstarted Danathius' journey toward greatness and catapulted him into a grand adventure. He learned of his true heritage -- his mother being a dragon in disguise -- and the relationship she shared with the dragon who had destroyed his village. Danathius loved, lost and loved again, and was crucial to making ground-breaking discoveries regarding magic on his home planet and plane. Despite still looking young, the mage is now centuries old, afforded time thanks to his Draconic heritage.

I finally wanted to get a non-fetish related piece of artwork of Danathius done! And boy did it come out great. <3 In my gallery, I'll have various pictures of the poor, hapless mage getting into countless precarious situations -- but I wanted to depict where the human mage could end up if he wasn't eaten or killed before his rise to power. XD
The symbol on his robe is actually the symbol of an order of mages Danathius joins with later in his career. The flame in the center of the diagram is representative of one's connection to the magic. The runes at each point of the triangle mean "mind", "body" and "soul". The order believed that all three of those aspects of a person had to be in harmony for magic to be utilized properly.
