One of my oldest female characters, Madonna has always been working as a nurse (and rarely a chief doctor). I invented Her character in the mid 2000s (most likely 2005) after seeing those "sexy dog nurses" in a music video. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzfaJR…)
The song was GoldFrapp's Number One, and it took place in a hospital seemingly dominated by dogs, both patients and doctors. This, and the fact that I was a fan of Dog City, another obscure anthro dog cartoon I saw a long time ago, was the final straw I needed to start producing specifically anthropomorphic animal themed pictures, and even more specifically, "humans on their next evolution", or "Dogmen, horsemen, human (insert animal name here), which ended up being the main roster for most of my stories to this day.
While Madonna was always meant to look like the nurses I saw in that video, I did make mistakes in her first designs. I originally imagined her with a set of hanging "string" ears, which didn't look too good, then I saw the clip again, and associated the breed of the dogs used to depict the nurses to Afghan Hound (I did not know what a saluki was at the time), and made Her a sister to Jennifer Aghar -hence Her former surname, Madonna Aghar-, with a long curly hair -as fitting for afghan hounds and spaniels-. When I most recently drew Her, I decided to give Her a huge redesign, including Her name. Now She looks like a proper saluki -until I realize I can do better and update Her again, that is-
So... Yea, Madonna, one of my proudest characters, is once more getting art of Herself from Me, and I am glad I made the decisions I did. FUN FACT: In Her current incarnation, She graduates at the same time Mylo "Dr. Beat" Dakota does. What could that be relevant to? And to think this is going to be a character in Furry Islanders, my Bionicle fanworld?
