i'd promote a bit of both, it's good to expand what you draw a bit, the more you are able to draw, the better you can bring your ideas to life how you see them
alot of the best artists out there have several different levels of detail they like to work at, most of my favoreit comics are incredibly detailed, but are peppered with humor drawn in a much simpler style
