Finally, the last forms of shadow began to melt away, leaving nothing with a heavy silence in the air. He stood panting, gazing at the emptiness that was left in front of him, before his full attention was drawn to the form that lay still on the cold ground. His sword dropped with a forgotten clang as he rushed to her side, hands slipping under her limp body to hold her upright in his arms.
“Alura! Alura, listen to me!” came the ragged breath as he brushed through the fur at the top of her head.
Slowly, Alura’s eyes fluttered, and the azure orbs opened, showing the dimming of light that had once filled their glow.
“…Blaze…” was all she was able to speak before a choking cough took her breath.
“No, don’t…don’t strain yourself…you’ve already done too much as it is…” he said, hushing her in his panic.
His hands held her body, rubbing her back softly with one, and supporting her legs with the other. No wounds were evident; however, the life she had given to save him from the swarming darkness had proven more than sufficient to take its toll on her.
Alura struggled to lift her head, instead gazing at the one above her, each word stressed in tone, and every breath a struggle.
“…my love…the life inside of me…my light…is quickly fading…”
Blaze’s head shook, tears filling his eyes as he did his best to comfort her, the hand on her back moving to lovingly hold the back of her head.
“You can’t…don’t talk like that…you’re just weak…I…”
Alura lifted a weak hand, pressing the back of her palm against his cheek, a faint smile forming on her lips as a single finger wiped away the tear that fell down Blaze’s face, even though another quickly followed to stain the white fur.
“…you know as well as I…that it had to end like this…we had no choice…and I hold no regrets in knowing you are now safe…”
Gradually, even the light that had always shined from the pendant around her neck began to die away, and unbeknownst to him, her body had started to fade, breaking away into small shimmering fragments.
“…but now…now it’s time for you to be strong…to keep fighting…all the hope we ever had now rests with you. And even though I shall soon depart…my love…” her own eyes had begun to water as small droplets ran down the sides of her face. “…my love for you will never fade. Our memories…what we created…”
The hand at his face started to slip down, but not before it came to a rest at his heart and remained.
“…don’t ever let sadness take it from you…don’t ever…let…”
Her voice trailed off, and her eyes, the bright, cheerful glow that had always glistened with life dimmed, until there was nothing left.
Blaze’s eyes filled with tears to the point he could no longer see, and his hands held her close to him, drops of sorrow falling to paint his love’s fur, while shudders of despair filled his entire being.
“…you can’t…you can’t leave…me…”
Then, right before his eyes, Alura’s body began to glow, as her very form and body dispersed into a sparkling, blue mist. The last thing he saw was her beautiful face, before the traveling light lifted, and faded into the very stars that hung above him, leaving nothing but her pendant in his palm.
There was silence, and the body he had held left an empty void in his soul. He remained on his knees before hunching forward. Fists were formed before they were slammed into the hard rock, and he cried out his pain.
“YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME HERE! Without you…” his head lowered when the sorrow took him again, and droplets fell to the rock from his amber eyes. “…without you…what do I have? Who’ll be there…when I need them the most?”
It was as he hunched over, grasping her pendant to his heart that he heard her voice, as if it were carried on the very wind that caressed his face. It seemed nothing more than a whisper, and he stood, feeling like arms had helped him to his feet, which then guided him to the cliff ahead, where he gazed over the open land.
“You’ll never be alone…my support, my memory, my love for you…whether it be the whispers in the wind, or the sparkle of the stars above…let the warmth in your heart be the reminder…that I’m always…and will always…be by your side…”
As the wind carried away the voice, it echoed into his very soul. The tears remained, and the warmth he had always felt when next to her had vanished. Though her words remained, and the smile she had always given to let him know it would all be okay filled his thoughts. He wanted nothing than to see that again, but he knew…he knew that no matter what he couldn’t bring that back, and neither could she.
All he had left were the wonderful memories, necklace he now held, and a hope…that one day…the impossible would reunite them. He knew now, however, that he had to be strong, if not for her, for himself. So, he lifted his head, and downed the hardest swallow in his lift, trying to force the tears away.
“…and I’ll never forget you…no matter what…”

Story was a little rushed, but it's good enough. Just didn't feel like going back and looking through it right now. So uh, just ignore any errors? XD
Also hoping to maybe do more with the actual picture sometime, but for now giving it an edit in photoshop to make it look sorta done works :3
Just been wanting to do this idea for a while, even if it's not done yet ^^;

Was listening to that while doing this. It's sorta of the theme that always sparked this side story lol
All the stuff but that song belongs to me

Blaze..*tears up and bawls like a child*
That was beautiful. It carries so much emotion and gives out so much that you can feel it forcing its way through the computer screen. It also warms my heart to see something beautiful in my inbox for a change. *hugs* I know I can't do much to quell what you have gone and are going through but do know that I will be your friend and have an open ear always. Besides who is it that you're always stuck talking to at AC eh? cx
