Hello there :)
Today i bring you the story of Amora, my lovely dove girl. Enjoy :)
Amora, the lovespell
Long, long time ago, in ancient Greece, people have prayed to the Pantheon of Olympus, the greek gods: Zeus, Hera, Athene and all the others. There where many temples, spread all over Greece. But then people were converted to Christianity and the old gods have been forgotten.
About 25 years ago some people from around the world decided that they want to bring back the religion of the olympian gods. So they build a big complex with 12 temples, each one for one of the olympian gods.
Like the priests and priestesses in old Greece the modern priests dressed themselves in white robes in old-greek style. They cleaned the temples, organized ceremonies to praise the gods and managed all the offerings brought by the believers.
At the beginning only a few people came to visit the temples. Many told that a stupid idea, doubting that there were any other gods. But then the olympian temples became more and more popular. Tourists and believers came from all over the world to visit the new places of worship for the old gods of Greece.
Because most of the gods in greek mythology had a symbol animal, for example Zeus' eagle or Athenes Owl, the priests were taking care of the animals of their gods. So the priestesses of Artemis feed nearby living deers, peacocks were living in a special area nearby the temple of Hera and behind Poseidons temple was a big pasture where the holy horses of the god of the sea lived.
One of the temples was the temple of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. Mostly women, but even some men worked and prayed there. Like every other temple around the temple of Aphrodite had a big statue of the goddess inside. Dressed in a beautiful gown the goddess looked down at her believers, who prayed for finding their true love or praised Aphrodite thanking for the luck of having a wife or a husband.
White doves, as a symbol animal of Aphrodite, lived around the temple. Often they sat inside, on the goddesses statue. Surprisingly the statue stayed clean by herself, nobody ever had to clean her.
Nobody was allowed to harm the doves, so they lived there in peace and safety.
One of the doves was very trustful. She often landed on the shoulders of the high priests, sitting there cooing happily. They took it as a sign of Aphrodites blessing and so they let the dove visit them.
One of the priests who was often visited by the dove was Daltar, a lynx. He lived in the temple settlement with his wife Nora. They worked at Aphrodites temple, both as high priests of their goddess. And both started to like the trustful dove who often sat on their shoulders. One day Nora heard her husband talking to the dove.
“Hello Amora, nice to see you again” he said.
The dove cooed and flapped her wings.
“How did you call her?” asked Nora.
“I thought she deserves a name. If she visits us every day we can't call her 'dove', don't you think so?"
“I think it's a pretty name. Hello Amora” Nora smiled and hold her paw up for the dove to land on.
The little dove now called Amora hopped on Noras paw and cooed happily. The two lynx laughed.
During the next night something strange happened inside the temple of Aphrodite, a bright pink light came from inside, shining through the windows.
At the next morning Daltar and Nora went to the temple to do their daywork. But when they opened the doors they froze. Somebody was laying at the feet of the big statue of Aphrodite. Somebody with bright white wings and blond hair.
They knelt down next to the person and turned her around. It was a avian girl, a dove, with a grey beak, white feathers and completely naked.
“We have to take care for her! I guess she came during the night. Maybe she was looking for protection?” Nora said, gently caressing the girls head.
Suddenly the dove opened her eyes. She cooed and looked at the two lynx.
“Nora? Is this you? Daltar?” she said.
“Yes, it's us. Who are you, young dove? And where did you come from?” Daltar asked, taking off his robe and placing it over the girls nudity. Now he was only wearing short pants.
The dove cooed again, tilting her head in surprise.
“Don't you recognize me? It's me, Amora!” she said, blinking her pink eyes.
She told Daltar and Nora how she flew into the temple because she loves to sleep on the statues raised hand, how she sat down on the marble fingers and that the pink light was suddenly around her.
“Then I wake up and you were there. That's everything I know” the dove said, looking at Daltar.
The lynx brought Amora to their house. This was a completely new situation for them, having no own children but now a young dove girl. But they felt like an parental love for Amora and so she stayed with Daltar and Nora. They adopted her as their own child and Amora was more than happy to have a mother and father now.
Together they faced all the small problems that life with a winged bird girl brought. So first of all Amora couldn't wear any usual clothing. The big wings on her back avoided every try to put on a usual shirt. So Nora sewed zippers and buttons to Amoras clothing. So that she could be able to put them on from the front and close them on her back from behind.
Then there was the problem that Amora, as a bird, hadn't any fangs or teeth. So she couldn't eat a whole piece of meat at once, like the two lynx could. But Nora just changed the food plan, from then on they ate more bread and vegetables or cut the meat.
Because they both still had to do their job at the temple of Aphrodite they gave Amora a robe so she could be there too. That turned out to be a stroke of luck because everybody seemed to love the dove girl. Amora welcomed the tourists and believers, led them around and told them about the history of the temples. When she smiled everybody was happy too, when Amora laughed the people were amused and joyful. A aura of well-being and happiness surrounded the young white dove who became more and more beautiful with every day.
At one evening Amora was alone in the temple, cleaning higher surfaces. That was easy for her, equipped with wings she could reach spaces where others had to get a ladder for. So she was cleaning, humming a sweet melody when she heard a voice behind her.
“Aw, look at you dear. You're becoming prettier and prettier day by day! I'm so proud of you!” said the voice, warm and melodic, simply mesmerizing in her lovelyness.
Amora turned around to look at the woman. Infront of her hovered a lady, endless beautiful, with golden hair, styled in a old greek coiffure. She wore a light blue dress that accentuated the divine body and some golden rings and bracelets on her arms, a gorgeous golden necklace with pink gems on it and a golden tiara in her hair. The lady smiled.
“Excuse me, miss? I don't think that I know you” the dove said, tilting her head. “We're closed, but you can come again tomorrow if you want to praise the goddess.”
The woman chuckled. “I don't need to praise Aphrodite, my dear. I am Aphrodite”
Amora nearly felt of the air. She struggled flapping her wings, so she landed on the shoulder of the goddesses statue.
“You? You are...Aphrodite ?” Amora asked, watching the woman.
The goddess nodded. “I am. You've been the dove who flew in and slept on my statues hand, dear. So I decided to make you be my daughter”
Amora frowned. But she felt that the lady told her the truth. So Amora dared to ask: “So...that means you are...my mother?”
Aphrodite chuckled again, a sound making every living thing as happy as possible. “Yes, you could say so.”
Amora was confused, but Aphrodite gently caressed the doves beak.
“Don't worry, honey. You will find your way and your destiny soon. I know that”
And with those words the goddess of love kissed Amoras forehead and disappeared into sweet scenting mist.
Amora went home to tell her lynx parents what happened. They were impressed, but had not advice for the dove. Amora was still confused.
During the next days she often thought about the meeting with the goddess. She still did her duties, but it didn't feel like that was what she was there for.
So one day when a tourist group from Europe visited the temple she made her decision. With her nicest voice she asked the group to wait for her, what the people of course did.
Amora went to her adoptive parents and told them that she decided to go away. To follow the call inside her that pushes her since the meeting with Aphrodite.
Daltar and Nora nodded and hugged their adoptive daughter.
“Whenever you want you can come back to us. You will be always welcome.” said Nora with tears running down her cheeks.
Daltar nodded and helped his avian daughter getting her suitcase to the bus of the waiting tourist group. Amora and the tourists went in and the bus drove away while the two lynx waved them goodbye.
During the ride back to the hotel and during dinner Amora talked with the tourists. They told her about their cities where they came from, they told her life stories, family stories, love stories. They talked about politics, music, fashion, nearly everything.
It was exciting for the dove girl to experience more of the modern world. Sure, the temple settlement wasn't too far away from the city, but this was different. A completely new trip.
At the next morning the tourist group went to the airport. They all took different flights to their home cities, but Amora couldn't decide which one she should follow. So she closed her eyes and pointed on the display with the destinations. She smiled at the ticket seller and he gave her a first class ticket for free.
During the flight she listened to music most of the time. She was very proud of her headphones because she bought them for her very first wage from the temple job. Together with her favorite pink sunglasses and two upper arm bands that she found in the temple one day the headphones were her most precious things.
After her arrival at the mysterious city Amora decided to do a exploration flight. She grabbed her suitcase and flapped her wings. Over and along the houses, business buildings and shopping malls she flew, impressed by all the people around.
But when she came to a bigger living house, she saw a big, green snake and a lioness with long black hair. They met at the corner of the house and the snake said:
“Hello ssssisssterssss”
