Rossetti (We Have All Become Pokemon and Now We're Fighting)
So uhh, yea, this is one of Eliot's alternate forms and perhaps his favorite of the bunch: Rossetti the Salazzle. This was actually the first form he took after he Sketched Transform, though he didn't take it on purpose. In the RP, I had to where that Sketching a move would cause some Power Incontinence in the Smeargle that Sketched it, using the form in corrupted or malformed ways, and with Transform, he turned into this giant Tetsuo blob of writhing Pokemon parts. He had actually Sketched it off a Ditto he'd met earlier, who, as luck would have it, ended up turning into a Salazzle. Thinking of her as he attempted to stabilize, he ended up taking the form she took. However, since he's not a Ditto, using Transform tires him out and that first day after he Sketched it, he couldn't even ATTEMPT it without getting utterly de-energized. So he ended up spending about a day in that form before he can get himself back to normal, and eventually, he ends up returning to it from time to time and gets something of a fondness (and slight power-lust) for it.
As a fighting game character, Rossetti have somewhat the same blueprint as Eliot, somewhat weak but making up for it with lots of defensive maneuvers. However, I'd say Rossetti would have more of an offensive bent, especially since, instead of paint, he'd be flinging around burning magma with his tail attacks, giving him some true range. Also, perhaps those maneuvers could be augmented to instead put Rossetti into more advantageous positions to punish opponents. I dunno: as fitting as it would be (Smeargle is kind of a weakling in the games), I wouldn't want a Zelda & Sheik situation with Eliot and Rossetti (of course, assuming this was ever going to get past hypotheticals).
The colors, left to right, top to bottom:
- Regular
- Shiny
- Rohan Kishibe (same colors from Eliot's Rohan palette, the only one of its kind on here)
- Rossetti [Eliot] (honestly, neither this nor its inverse should work as well as they do, but somehow, I like it!)
- Furfrou [Heliolisk] (my logic for this was that Furfrou was a dog Pokemon from Gen 6 and Smeargle's a dog Pokemon, so to mirror that somewhat, I based the colors on a LIZARD Pokemon from Gen 6, which also made it a nod to another PC, PJ)
- RYB [RGB] (not really any more fitting than RYB for a Salazzle, just thought it would be good to mirror that palette instead)
- Riolu/Lucario [Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir] (my logic here was kinda similar to that of the Furfrou skin...both the Gardevoir and Lucario lines are somewhat notorious albeit for different reasons, and while I was making this skin, I was under the impression Lucario was a Gen 3 Pokemon, but it is not...so, yea)
- Red [Close to the Edge] (again, prog rock album cover reference, this time to Yes' seminal work; I like how the green of this palette reflects the striking red of Eliot's version of it)
