sounds interesting) but no, in this story have different system
(sorry for my bad english) each child in one country can be randomly chosen by spirit. mystical creature will be connected with living person within one mortal life. spirits wants energy and tooks it from their living keepers. but if you know how, you can make a pact with your spirit. spirit will give you some magic abilities (they are differenf tor each spirit) and you, as exchange, will sometimes do what spirit says to make special energy for them. like one spirit may prefer energy of rage, some - of happynes, sadness etc. Kogar's spirit is a warrior, so his abilities are battle type) and also this spirit need some special energy, which can be taken in battles
