There once was a maiden, fairest in the land
Her beauty led many to seek her hand
Her heart did seem kind and her demeanor did charm
no one suspected her of the harm
Once in a while, now and then, the men did go missing from home
Once someone did follow the maiden, their fate was set in stone
Years went by, no one knew, till one child did see
down in the forest, down by the lake, the last moments of a suiter to be
The young child escaped fate that day, ran to tell the town
They turned on the maiden, all that were left, and decided her fate was to drown
They say at night, down by the lake, you can hear her spirit cry
If you go down there, you won't come back, for the maiden has you in her eyes
