Quite a conundrum. Either risk trusting this mental aspect that could just be another psychic trick and might turn on him when he is most vulnerable or risk fighting two battles the next time he fights Moah denying this possible other side of him (if he isn't just a psychic projection meant to trick him).

I get the feeling there's more to this than just trust. Even if he doesnt trust him, there might be some other mental effects on him from learning from this guy. Mentally he sees himself already as a charmander, and he's merged with that other self. All that's left is this new entity without a flame on its tail.
