I’ve long believed that art has power, and that stories matter - together they shape who we imagine we can be.

I discovered Shine at a particularly low point in my life. Seeing my struggles in Star’s fictional journey was a lifeline I didn't know I needed. All of a sudden I felt hope and a little perspective to despair and self-disgust I’d struggled with for decades.

Unlikely as it may seem, this comic was the catalyst for rekindling my love of drawing, for embracing and exploring the furry community, and for entering this new chapter in my relationship - after decades of shame and yearning I now have someone I can call Mommy, and who calls me her Little Bunny.

I’m a terribly shy and socially anxious person, and my gregariousness is only a defense! I would normally never be so forward as to push fanart onto someone, but when BabyStar asked for Shine fanart last Christmas I felt like I could try and do somewhat of a tiny thank you. Thanks again BabyStar. I’ve gotten to know you some, and I know you are a darling sweet person to everyone you meet. In addition to that, your work has power and impact - it matters. It touches, and will continue to touch, so many lives, many of whom will never, for one reason or another, be able to properly reach out and thank you.

Thank you for letting us know that we’re not alone, and thank you for letting us image that we can be okay~
