I'd be very careful personally, we had a Brazilian bird and it could bite your finger off. D: Made me bleed a couple of times because it was an asshole. ;_; I do still like birds though! :)

I have an african grey that will do that to my mate. The bird regards me as his mate and no one else better come near...or else!

When they do it gently and it's doesn't hurt it's usually called 'beaking' - means he/she is exploring, checking you out :} Funny how most people commenting ignored the "it doesn't hurt" part and immediately went straight to assuming the worst.

Sun conures are absolutely darling little birds, so full of personality! I recently bought some toys for the hand-raised babies at a local breeder... Could never own one, though... The voice grates on me. A shame, really.

And yes, I would love to have one, but ohh they are so vocal. But at least there is a place where I can visit them. ^^

Do they only have Suns there, or are there other conures..? Or other parrots, even?

There are a few rainbow lorikeets down here that do the same thing, but with their little bristle tongues it feels really strange!
