Shade is quite an impressive looking dragon, glossy black scales, sharp but elegant horns, wings that when spread are likely magnificent, quite a muscular build and I'd imagine considering very pleasing by the ladies. Perhaps he couldn't be blamed for exuberance and overconfidence even if his first time out as a bounty hunter he was going up against a species just as formidable as a dragon, and I'm guessing he didn't do any research beforehand.

In the lmyths, some nagas are in fact deities or at least extremely gifted magically and even if Venorax possesses no magic, he looks to be considerably larger and burlier than Shade and with the general strength and constriction ability of his snake body I imagine he quite easily overpowered Shade, though I'm guessing more interested in humiliating and mocking his overconfident would be hunter rather than killing him, so I guess Shade will live another day and maybe learn from his mistake and not underestimate his quarry in future.

I wonder though if Venorax's next statement might be something like, "Now a tough guy like you couldn't possibly be ticklish could he?"
