The second piece in my series depicting some of my characters as deadly sins, which features prince Onicard as the deadly sin of Pride.
All his life, Prince Onicard has been told that he is special; the eldest son of the king, he is destined to become the ruler one day. He believes, as all monarchists do, intensely in the principle of the Divine Right; that to be born a future king is to have been chosen by God, and that his own words and actions are sanctioned by Him, and cannot be questioned.
While otherwise smart and diligent, being told by so many that his actions cannot be questioned and that all must prostrate themselves before him has severely affected his ego. He sees most around him as inferior, and the lower they are on the totem pole of the aristocracy, the more insignificant they become to his eye. His opinion of the third estate, the vast majority of the country, is of total indifference, a fact not lost to any who actually come close to him.
This drawing was interesting to do, I'm trying to incorporate the colors that best represent the sin in an interesting way. In the case of this particular drawing, I used the color purple, a color that was worn in the past exclusively by regal aristocrats.
Thanks for checking it out!
