I don't usually go for genderswaps, but for whatever reason, I started thinking about it happening to Avatar Guy and Ursula. Oddly, there really hasn't been much evidence in my gallery at all of their association. In fact, the last time I drew them together was an awful old drawing from 2012 (if you really want to see it, along with loads of unnecessary waffle about their backstory, you can check the DeviantArt description.
So this time, Avatar Guy (Gal?) is wearing an Ashens suit. What can I say, I like the way it looks. She's not taking the transformation as well as Ursula... wait. Uh, the closest masculine equivalents to Ursula are Ursus (Latin), Urs (German, from the Latin) or Orson (English, ditto). Blech. Let's stick with Ursula. Incidentally, I discovered while drawing this that male Ursula is really really hot. Like, seriously, for pity's sake. That's only like the 74th time where I've been surprised by how good-looking a male character is!!! Whatever. It's mostly the hair, and I had to give him nice hair to match female-Ursula's nice hair. Avatar Gal's hair ended up unintentionally being a bit Egoraptor-y, but the uniform brown didn't really work. Don't ask why male-Ursula has hair, but male-Avatar Guy doesn't. Speaking of colours, some of them are applied a little differently. I've decided to give Avatar Guy white glove markings from now on instead of him just having orange hands. I've also moved the gradient on Ursula's ears and limbs so there's more brown, and it fades less gradually. I'm thinking about drawing up some ref sheets featuring similar design tweaks for various characters, but I know they'll take ages to make, so I'm not sure.
Something interesting about this picture: I tried doing the sketch without using a transparent brush, and then cleaned it up to make lineart out of it. I don't think I really saved any time since the cleanup took so long, but it's something to bear in mind for the future since I'm not a huge fan of how it normally looks when I skip the lineart stage and just clean up the semitransparent sketch, which I've done a few times recently.
