Hey guys, it's been a crazy month so far, so I decided to go with a crazy blend. Time for a trip to the Funny Farm AKA, the Asylum. Get on your straight-jackets and let's get to it.
Asylum 13 Connecticut:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras – Habano & Corojo
Pre-Light/Construction:
From the first glimpse of the box they were all neatly packed in a row. The red from the band gave it a bright look to compliment the wrapper itself. The wrapper almost shined in comparison to the red band. A bit dry but firm to the touch. A nice scent of cedar came off it it as well. Seems were present but neatly wrapped up like a layer cake, ready to be glazed. Veins were slightly there, but not too pertruding. From the slice, the pre-draw was nice and loose.
The Burn Part 1:
Cedar and medium Black Pepper from the first few puffs. It came out blasting from the start and started calming down. Alot of smoke came out too. From there on out not much changes came after that. Some sweet notes similar to almost a light dark cherry came near the end. So far, nice and clean for a start.
The Burn Part 2:
Surprisingly not much has changed at this point except the increase of Black Pepper strength. Still even burning and alot of smoke.
The Burn Final:
At this point the cedar notes have completely vanished. The pepper has somewhat backed up from it's initial burst in body. The light dark cherry however got a little thicker and practically almost dominating the playing field, giving it a sweeter side to it's insanity. Seems as though this bad boy is all bark and no bite.......until you get the straight-jacket off. Still intimidating. With the final draw coming, it was eventually the dark cherry that finished off the flavor train.
Verdict:
A bit of pep, and alot of character regardless of what time of day you are about to have a stick. I'd recommend this guy for a future stick. Grab a couple.
Next Week: Asylum Medula
See you all then!
